Yi Liu is an Assistant Professor of Data Science in the Department of Applied Mathematics
& Statistics and the Department of Computer Science (affiliated) at Stony Brook University.
He is also affiliated with the AI Innovation Institute and the Institute for Advanced
Computational Science. Before that, he was an Assistant Professor in the Department
of Computer Science at Florida State University. He received his Ph.D. in Computer
Science at Texas A&M University in 2022, and M.E. in Biomedical Engineering in 2015
and B.E. in Electronic Engineering in 2012 from University of Science and Technology
of China. His current research interests are geometric deep learning, AI for Science
(AI4Science), scientific machine learning (SciML), and LLMs for Science. He strives
to develop novel AI methods to solve important problems in sciences, including but
not limited to quantum chemistry, physics, PDEs, climate science, material science,
and biochemistry. Currently, he serves as an Associate/Action Editor for IEEE Transactions
on Neural Networks and Learning Systems (TNNLS), Neurocomputing, and Data-center Machine
Learning Research (DMLR). He also serves as an Area Chair for the International Conference
on Learning Representations (ICLR) 2025.
