Anurag Purwar is an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering. His current research
brings together rigid body kinematics and machine learning for computational design
of mechanisms and robots. He has received $6.2M in research funding supported by various
grants from National Science Foundation (NSF), Department of Defense, NY-state SPIR,
NY-state Center for Biotechnology, Sensor-CAT, SUNY Research Foundation, SUNY Office
of Provost, and many industries. He holds six patents all of which have been licensed.
His notable inventions are Mobility Assist for people suffering from neuro-muscular disabilities and SnappyXO Robotics for education. He is the PI and Faculty Lead of the NSF I-Corps program at Stony
Brook University, a senior member of the National Academy of Inventors, and Chair-Elect
of the ASME Mechanisms and Robotics Committee.
