George Moutsanidis received his PhD in Structural Engineering and Computational Science from the University of California, San Diego, and his MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to his graduate studies, he received his Diploma in Civil Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has worked as a visiting researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory and as a postdoctoral research associate at Brown University. His research focus is computational mechanics. He has developed and implemented novel computational techniques to study problems of engineering interest, such as hypersonic flows, air-blast-structure interaction, and fracture, and has been extensively involved with the state-of-the-art methods in computational mechanics such as Isogeometric Analysis, and Meshfree methods.
