FTAPI -- FrontTracking Application Programming Interface
The idea behind front tracking is to couple a lower-dimensional surface, which is
dynamically tracked with a standard Eulerian solver. Front tracking discretizes and
advects a surface representing this material interface which can then be used to adjust
solution steps, so that the unwanted mixing between neighboring cells of different
materials is prevented. Front tracking API has been coupled to the FLASH code and
was used to study whether the current modeling of the RT and RM instabilities in the
context of ICF simulations could be improved with the use of a front tracking algorithm.
