IACS Endowed Chair Heather Lynch has been awarded the George Eastman Visiting Professorship at Oxford University for 2027–28. Lynch, who holds the first Endowed Chair for Ecology and Evolution at IACS and is a professor in Stony Brook's Department of Ecology and Evolution, will take up the post in September 2027.

The professorship, established in 1929 by Kodak founder George Eastman and administered by the American Association of Rhodes Scholars, is awarded each year to a single distinguished scholar from the United States.

"I'm incredibly honored to be selected for this position, and more than a little surprised," Lynch said, adding that the list of past Eastman Professors made the honor especially humbling.   Read the SBU News article by Robert Empronto here.
