Giancarlo La Camera
Expertise
Giancarlo La Camera is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior. Prior to joining Stony Brook, he studied theoretical physics and neural computation at the University of Rome "La Sapienza", and subsequently obtained a PhD in neurobiology from the University of Bern. He then held postdoctoral positions at the National Institute of Mental Health and at the University of Bern. Dr. La Camera uses theoretical approaches to study the behavior of populations of neurons with the ultimate goal of understanding the neural basis of learning and behavior. His approach requires computationally demanding data analysis as well as large-scale computer simulations of networks of neurons.
