Staff Scientist
DEPARTMENT
Theoretical Chemistry
HOME INSTITUTION
Humboldt University Berlin, Germany
Florian A. Bischoff studied chemistry in Karlsuhe, Germany from 2001 - 2006, and also
obtained his theoretical chemistry PhD there in 2009. He moved to Blacksburg, VA as
a post-doc until 2012, when he became a staff scientist at Humboldt University in
Berlin. He held visiting professor positions at Humboldt University (2018-2021) and
at Stony Brook University (2019).
His research interests include the calculation of molecular properties with special
interest in the elimination of the finite basis set problem. To that end he develops
in close collaboration with IACS the electronic structure code MADNESS that uses wavelets
as a basis for the representation of the molecular wave function.
