Christian Aponte-Rivera
TITLE
IDEA Fellow Lecturer
DEPARTMENT
Chemistry
HOME INSTITUTION
Stony Brook University
Christian Aponte-Rivera’s research focuses on modeling soft materials such as colloids and polymers. Using theory and simulation, his research aims to enable the design of materials with enhanced physico-chemical properties and understand protein aggregation in neurodegenerative diseases.
Prior to joining Stony Brook in 2023, Christian received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez in 2012. He earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering at Cornell University in 2017, working to develop a model for intracellular transport using confined colloidal suspensions. From 2018 to 2022, he trained as a postdoctoral associated at Duke University modeling the thermodynamic and dynamic properties of charged polymers.
