Class starts each day at 9:00am and end at 5:00pm, with lunch roughly from 12:00-1:30pm, plus morning and afternoon coffee breaks at approximately 10:30am and 3:00pm. Sessions will consist of lecture style training on specific topics and break-out sessions. All meetings will be held in the Seminar Room of IACS at Stony Brook University. ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST BRING THEIR LAPTOPS.

Poster session - Attendance is Mandatory

Beach Barbecue - Attendance is Optional
Location: Pickup is at the SAC circle
Time: 5:30 pm - 10:30 pm
Participants are invited to a free barbecue at West Meadow Beach on the north shore of Long Island. Dinner and drinks will be provided along with transportation to and from West Meadow. The bus will leave the SAC circle promptly at 5:30pm and return from the beach at 9:45pm. Participants are advised to bring bug spray and warm clothing.

Saturday, August 6
Canoe trip - Attendance is Optional
Location: Pickup is at the SAC circle
Time: 11 am - 3:30 pm
Summer school organizers are offering to all participants the opportunity to take a canoe trip down the Nissequogue River, free of charge. This trip is optional but your spot must be reserved by May 30 through the online registration form that is emailed to all participants. Canoes fit 2-3 people each. Transportation will be made available at 11am on Saturday, August 6 from the SAC circle on campus to the canoe drop-off point. Transportation will be available for the return trip at 3 pm from the canoe pick-up to the SAC circle on campus. Lunch is not provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Trip into NYC - Attendance is Optional
Location: 7bus or LIRR into NYC
Time: Open
Participants are welcome to take (at their own expense) the 7 Bus that provides the Stony Brook University community with daily, direct and indirect transportation services between the University and New York City. 7Bus service offers westbound transportation between the Student Activities Center (SAC, SBU), Rego Park/Queens, 40th Street & 3rd Avenue, 50th Street & 3rd Avenue and 60th Street & 3rd Avenue. For eastbound travelers, bus stops in New York City are located on Lexington Avenue on 40th, 47th, and 59th streets, followed by stops in Rego Park/Queens and the Student Activities Center (SAC, SBU). The Rego Park/Queens destination allows passengers the ability to connect with multiple subways to travel to locations in Queens and Brooklyn.
7Buses are equipped with free WiFi, plasma monitors, reclining leather seats, a newsstand library and personal power outlets. Travel time between SBU and New York City is estimated to take between 90 and 120 minutes each way; one-way fare ranges from $7 to $15 depending on demand and when a ticket is purchased. 7Bus tickets are only available via online reservation and reservations are required in order to board the bus and use the service. 7Bus is separate from existing transportation services offered by the University. At the "Wrap-Up" Dinner you will get a chance to celebrate, eat, drink and mingle! As a group, you will be able to reflect on your MRA summer school experience with new-found friends, computational science comrades and future colleagues!
