Eligibility
Undergraduate students interested in pursuing computational data science research,
including women and minority students, are invited/encouraged to apply. DCD projects
cover a range of scientific domains including, but not limited to, Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, digital arts, social sciences, and humanities.

To be eligible for this program, which is funded by the National Science Foundation
(NSF), all applicants must:
- Be US citizens or hold permanent residency status
- Have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
- Not be enrolled in classes during Summer 2023
- Be available to work full-time on the campus of Stony Brook University from June 5 - August 4, 2023
- Be an undergraduate in the Fall 2023 (i.e. not graduating before Fall 2023)
- Many STEM projects require/recommend at least two semesters of calculus and/or programming.
- Projects in the digital arts, social sciences, and humanities require an interest in computing and programming (but not necessarily formal coursework).
Note: AP courses and self-study are acceptable qualifications. If appropriate, please address this in the personal statement.
