Type Ia supernovae are one of the best tools we have in studies of the distant universe. However, we understand very little about the progenitors that lead to these events. In this talk, I will describe a study where we combine hydrodynamic simulations, particle post-processing, and radiation transport calculations to find indicators of progenitor metallicity in the spectra of type Ia supernovae. I will highlight two spectral regions that could be used as indicators of progenitor metallicity.
